Why timetables disagree

Fajr and Isha depend on how far the sun sits below the horizon, and different authorities settled on different angles. A few minutes of variation between two timetables for Malmö is normal rather than an error — it usually means they use different parameters, not that one is wrong. Mozzi defaults to Moonsighting Committee here and lets you change it.

Across the year, Fajr in Malmö ranges from about 03:28 at its earliest to 06:54 at its latest. That spread is the single biggest reason a printed timetable goes stale.

Asr, and the two calculations

Asr is the one prayer where the difference is large rather than marginal. The Hanafi calculation places it noticeably later than the Shafiʿi, Maliki and Hanbali one — in Malmö today, about 53 minutes later. If Asr looks wrong to you and everything else looks right, that setting is almost always the reason.

Midsummer, when the angle never arrives

Malmö is far enough north that for part of the summer the sun never drops to the angle that defines Fajr or Isha at all. No calculation can return a time that astronomy does not produce, so methods fall back on a rule — the nearest date on which the angle did occur, or a fixed proportion of the night. Different mosques choose differently, which is why local timetables diverge most in June and least in December.
