Terms of Service

Terms of Service

Last updated 25 August 2026

These terms cover your use of the Mozzi iOS app. Using the app means you accept them.

1. What Mozzi is

Mozzi calculates prayer times and the qibla direction on your device, provides the Qur’an for reading offline, records which prayers you have marked, and can check a product’s ingredient list against a list of commonly flagged items.

2. Prayer times are calculated, not authoritative

Prayer times are computed astronomically from your location and the calculation method you select. Different authorities legitimately differ, and local mosque announcements may not match the app exactly. Where precision matters to you, follow your local authority. The same applies to the Hijri date, which is based on the Umm al-Qura calendar and may differ by a day from a local moon sighting.

3. Subscriptions

Mozzi is sold as a subscription through the App Store. Payment is taken by Apple, and subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You manage and cancel subscriptions in the iOS Settings app under your Apple ID, not in Mozzi. If a free trial is offered and you cancel before it ends, you are not charged. Refunds are handled by Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com.

4. What you buy stays bought

A commitment, not a courtesy. Any feature included in your subscription at the time you purchase will remain included for as long as that subscription is active. We will not remove a feature you are already paying for and re-sell it as a separate tier or add-on. New features added later may be part of a different offering, but nothing you already have will be taken away to create one.

5. The halal ingredient check

The scanner compares a product’s published ingredient list, retrieved from the open Open Food Facts database, against a list of commonly flagged ingredients. It is not a halal certification and is not a substitute for one. Ingredient data may be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and formulations vary by country. The app distinguishes between “nothing flagged”, “worth checking” and “we have no data” rather than implying certainty it does not have. Always verify with the manufacturer or a certification body for anything that matters to you.

6. Qur’an text

The Arabic is the Uthmani text. Translations are established published works, used under their respective terms and credited in the app. We have taken care with accuracy, but if you find an error please report it so it can be corrected.

7. Your data

There is no account and no server. What the app stores stays on your device. The Privacy Policy sets out the detail, including the only two things that ever leave your phone.

8. Liability

Mozzi is provided as-is. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law in your country.

9. Changes

These terms may change. When they do in substance, the date at the top of this page changes. Section 4 is a commitment we intend to keep, and any change to it will not be applied retroactively to a subscription already purchased.
