Mozzi was built because most prayer apps are free for a reason: your location and your habits are the product. This page describes exactly what Mozzi does instead. It is deliberately specific, because a privacy policy that only says “we care about your privacy” tells you nothing.

The short version. There is no account and no server. Your prayer log, Qur’an progress and settings are stored only on your device. Two things leave your phone, both described below: your purchase status, and a barcode if you choose to scan one.

Calculated on your device

Prayer times and the qibla direction are calculated on your phone from your location, using an open-source astronomical library bundled in the app. Your location is used on the device and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. The app works with no network connection at all.

There is no account, and no server

There is no sign-up, no login, no email address and no password. We do not operate a database of users, because there are no users to store. Your prayer history, your Qur’an reading progress and every setting live in the app’s own storage on your device. If you delete the app, that data is gone; we have no copy of it and no way to restore it.

No ad networks, no analytics, no tracking

Mozzi contains no third-party advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs and no attribution frameworks. Nothing in the app is designed to follow you across other apps or websites. The app does not ask for permission to track you, because it has nothing to track you with.

What does leave your device

Two things, and only when the relevant feature is used:

Purchases. Subscriptions are handled by Apple, with RevenueCat as the service that tells the app whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives your purchase status against an anonymous identifier it generates. We never send it your name, your email address or your location, and the app never asks you to log in, so that identifier is not connected to who you are.

Barcodes, if you scan one. The halal ingredient check looks a product up in Open Food Facts, an open food database. The barcode is sent on its own, with no identifier attached, so the lookup cannot be tied back to you or your device. If you never use the scanner, no such request is ever made.

Notifications and alarms

Prayer notifications are scheduled locally on your device. There are no push notifications, which means there is no push token and no server capable of sending you anything. If you enable alarms on iOS 26, those are scheduled locally too.

Children

Mozzi is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Regulations such as the GDPR give you the right to access, correct, export and delete the personal data a company holds about you. In Mozzi’s case there is nothing to request: we hold no personal data about you. Deleting the app removes everything it stored. For purchase records, Apple and RevenueCat act as processors, and Apple’s own privacy policy governs your purchase history.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in substance, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Should Mozzi ever begin collecting something it does not collect today, that will be stated here plainly and in advance — not buried in a clause.
