Prayer times in Lyon

Lyon sits between Paris and Marseille in latitude, and its prayer times follow suit: a wider seasonal swing than the coast, a narrower one than the capital. Muslim World League angles are widely used.

Why timetables disagree

Fajr and Isha depend on how far the sun sits below the horizon, and different authorities settled on different angles. A few minutes of variation between two timetables for Lyon is normal rather than an error — it usually means they use different parameters, not that one is wrong. Mozzi defaults to Muslim World League here and lets you change it.

Across the year, Fajr in Lyon ranges from about 03:11 at its earliest to 06:34 at its latest. That spread is the single biggest reason a printed timetable goes stale.

Asr, and the two calculations

Asr is the one prayer where the difference is large rather than marginal. The Hanafi calculation places it noticeably later than the Shafiʿi, Maliki and Hanbali one — in Lyon today, about 54 minutes later. If Asr looks wrong to you and everything else looks right, that setting is almost always the reason.

Getting the adhan in Lyon

Mozzi plays a real call to prayer at each time rather than a notification chime, and on iOS 26 it can sound through Silent mode and Focus the way an alarm does. Times are calculated on your phone, so it keeps working with no signal.
